The Salthouse Parish Council website is maintained by the Parish Clerk as part of his normal duties and at no extra cost to the council. It's primary function is to ease compliance with the Freedom of Information Act by making as much of the council's documentation as possible available online. The Information Commissioner recommends that first-tier councils establish a website for this purpose.
At present the website uses the clerk's personal web server space at no charge to the council.
The domain name costs the council £10.54 per year; expenditure authorised by the council under section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972 which allows a local authority to spend a limited amount on activities for which it has no specific power, but which the authority considers 'will bring direct benefit to the area, or any part of it or all of some of its inhabitants'.
We hope you agree the site represents good value for money.
Photographs on the site are by Andrew Cannon, they may be copied and used for any non-commercial purpose without permission (although a name check would be polite).
The site was made using Microsoft Frontpage which is notorious for producing sites that only really work in Internet Explorer. Apologies to those who prefer other browsers. If you find a problem and you know how to fix it, please tell the clerk. If you don't know how to fix it, you'll have to put up with it.
